RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet in some regions of the South, the North Caucasus and Central Federal Districts was seeded on an area of 198,800 ha or 20.3% of the forecast by April 13, 2015 (200.7 thousand hectares were sown on the same date in 2014).

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated April 14, 2015, total 10 vessels have been nominated to carry 362950 MT of raw cane sugar in 2015 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 142350 MT from 4 vessels, based on sugar.ru data.

 

UKRAINE

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has increased the minimum prices for sugar beet in 2015/2016 marketing year (September - August) by 36.7% compared to current marketing year – to make UAH 6454.73/MT (excluding VAT). According to government regulation #189 dated April 8; the minimum prices for sugar beet in coming season will be 29.8% higher – UAH 445.87/MT (excluding VAT). The document sets the volume limit of quota "A" (sugar production to supply the domestic market); the volume is reduced to 1.72 million tons from 1.811 million tons in 2014/2015 marketing year.

BELARUS

Belarus has set the upper prices limit for procurement of crop production in 2015, when purchased for state needs. The cost of 1 ton of sugar beet is set at 356 (substandard) and 446 thousand Br (standard). Last year the maximum price was 321 000 and 402 000 Belarus rubles for 1 ton respectively.

MOLDOVA

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, consumer prices for sugar increased by 5.3% in March 2015, and from the beginning of the year – by 7.2%.

KAZAKHSTAN

In February 2015 the prices of imported sugar have decreased by 2.5% in Kazakhstan, according to the Agency for Statistics.
