RUSSIA

"RusAgro" Group of companies has increased its net profit (by IFRS) 6.3 times compared to 2013 - up to RUR 20.177 billion by the end of 2014, the company has reported. In 2014 "RusAgro" produced 717,000 tons of sugar (in 2013 - 611 thousand tons), including 498 thousand tons made of sugar beet and 219 thousand tons of raw sugar. Sales volume of sugar was 752 thousand tons, with an average sales price of RUR 28.4/kg (excluding VAT). In 2014 the company has made significant investments in sugar segment – total RUR 1.6 billion earmarked for modernization sugar factories (in 2013 the investment volume was RUR 790 million).

According to Sergey Garkusha, the Minister of Agriculture of the Krasnodar Territory, all spring field work in the region will end up by April 20-24.


UKRAINE

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food supports the abolition of the quota system for sugar production in Ukraine starting from autumn of 2015. In the marketing year of 2014/2015 (MY lasts from September to August) quota "A" (sugar production to supply the domestic market) was set at 1.811 million tons against 1.826 million tons in 2013/2014 MY.

According to the annual report of company “Astarta” for the year 2014, the consolidated revenue has increased by 8% to reach € 352 million; net debt has decreased by 18% to € 217 million. Sugar segment has generated € 171 million (49% of total sales), sugar production volume has increased by 53% to reach 466 000 tons.

ARMENIA

In Armenia the consumer price of sugar has decreased by 1.3% in March 2015.

BELARUS

According to the Decree of the President, in 2015 the three banks were suggested to issue loans for agricultural enterprises to pay for crop production, the loans will feature interest at the rate of half of the refinancing rate of the National Bank of Belarus. The loan period will be up to one year. The list of industries includes sugar beet manufacture and supplied for state needs.

According to the National Statistics Committee, the consumer price of sugar rose by 3% in March 2015. The average price of sugar is 10883 Belarus rubles per 1 kg. From the beginning of the year the consumer prices for sugar increased by 3.9% in Belarus.
