RUSSIA

"Liskisakhar" JSC has increased its net profit 5.4 times in 2014 - up to RUR 52.273 million in terms of RAS, which is associated with increased revenue from sales of sugar production from RUR 2.6 billion in 2013 to RUR 2.9 rubles in 2014.

By April 8, 2015 in several regions of the South, the North Caucasus and Central Federal Districts sugar beet was sown on an area of 173,400 ha or 17.7% of the forecast (in 2014 - 155,200 ha).

Sergachsky sugar factory will receive subsidized loan of RUR 2.6 billion from the Federal Government for the reconstruction and modernization of production facilities.

Over the past week (March 31 – April 6) Russian consumer price for sugar fell by 0.6%, according to Rosstat. From the beginning of the year the price of sugar grew by 16.3%.

According to price monitoring for the period from 02.04.2015 to 08.04.2015 by sugar.ru, the dollar value has dropped significantly – by 5.2% (on April 2 the exchange rate was US$ 1 = RUR 58.35; on April 8 - US$ 1 = RUR 55.33). Ruble prices for sugar follow the dollar value, but have not yet fully exploited this downtrend capacity. Moscow RUR price for sugar fell by RUR 0.50/kg (-1.19%), Krasnodar price has decreased by RUR 1.30/kg (-3.23%). Moscow US dollar price equivalent has grown by US$ 0.030/kg (+4.17%), Krasnodar price rose by US$ 0,014/kg (+2.03%).

UKRAINE

Ukraine has regained the status of sugar exporter in the international market due to cheaper national currency. According to the State Fiscal Service, domestic companies have supplied to foreign markets commodities for a total value of US$ 14.8 million in the first quarter of the year, which is five times higher than was exported in 2014. Total volume of sugar exports from Ukraine has made slightly over US$ 3 million for the whole in calendar year of 2014.

12 regions of Ukraine continue sugar beet sowing campaign. As of April 8, total acreage planted has made 56 thousand hectares or 20% of the forecast (in 2014 the progress made to date was 276 thousand hectares).
