RUSSIA

Over the past week - March 24 to 30, 2015 Russian consumer prices for sugar have decreased by 0.8% and from the beginning of March - by total 3.4%.

Group of Companies "RusAgro" plans to invest over RUR 5 billion in reconstruction of "Znamensky sugar factory", which implies an increase in daily capacity from 6 to 8 thousand tons of sugar beets, as well as the construction of separation and pulp drying departments as well the line for desugarization of molasses.

According to the operative figures by the Agriculture Ministry dated April 1, 2015, sugar beet in some regions of the South, the North Caucasus and Central federal districts was planted on an area of 154.5 thousand ha, or 15.8% of the forecast (in 2014 the progress was 76.7 thousand ha).

According to monitoring of regional prices by sugar.ru, in the period from March 26 to April 2, the exchange rate dollar/rouble has grown (on 03.26 – US$ 1 = RUR 57.39; on Apr 02 - US$ 1 = RUR 58.35). Sugar prices continue to decline. Wholesale Moscow rouble price for sugar decreased by RUR 0.30/kg (-0.71%), wholesale Krasnodar price rose by RUR 0.10/kg (+ 0.25%). In the US dollar equivalent the prices in Moscow have lost US$ 0,017/kg (– 2.31%), Krasnodar – US$ 0.010/kg (– 1.41%).
 

UKRAINE

According to Ternopol regional administration, group of companies "Mriya" has not yet started preparations for sugar beet sowing. It is likely that the company does not plan sowing sugar beet on leased land in the area in 2015 season.

Total acreage of sugar beet planted makes 37 thousand hectares on April 1, or 12% of the forecast, according to Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

BELARUS

Grodno region has decided to abandon the project of the second sugar factory, said the regional governor Vladimir Kravtsov.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Statistics Agency, the price of sugar from manufacturers in the country has decreased by 0.7% in March 2015.

According to the Customs Control Committee, Kazakhstan imported about 17.5 thousand tons of sugar in the solid state (HS code 1701) in January-February 2015, which is 68.5% more than in January-February 2014. The total cost amounted to US$ 10 631 thousand.
