RUSSIA
Imports of sugar from non-CIS countries amounted to 24.6 million US dollars in November 2016, according to the Federal Customs Service.

By decision of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Tatarstan, the 32 sugar factories are subject to fine totaling RUR 360 million. The decision on the recognition of sugar producers guilty of price collusion was issued on October 21, 2016. Though the collusion has started between Tatarstan sugar manufacturers, as a result, none of them was affected.

According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru, in the period December 1-8, 2016 the US dollar value has dropped by 2.0% (on December 01 the rate was RUR 65.24/$; on December 08 – RUR 63.91/$). Moscow ruble price of sugar decreased by 0.70 RUR/kg (-1.93%), Krasnodar price decreased by 0.50 RUR/kg (-1.45%). US dollar the price of sugar has not changed in Moscow, remaining at the level of US$ 0.555/kg, whereas in Krasnodar the price has grown by $ 0.003/kg (+ 0.57%).
Over the past week the price of sugar continued to fall and crushed the level of 34 RUR/kg. The minimum price is again offered by RusAgro – 33.5 RUR/kg from two plants, but the volume of sales is limited. Most companies keep prices above 34 RUR/kg in anticipation of the price rise and, it seems, there are such grounds. Firstly, for the last two weeks volume of sugar shipments by rail has decreased (by 3.4% and by 14.6% compared to weeks #47). Secondly, in the pre-Christmas time, we should expect an increase in the production of pastries and homemade cakes, as well as New Year procurement of sugar by warehouses and stores. Transit of sugar from other countries through the territory of Russia to the countries of Central Asia fell to almost zero, which contributes to the continuation of the Russian export of sugar.
UKRAINE
According to the State Fiscal Service, the country has exported 335.3 thousand tons of sugar for total value of US$ 166.8 million in eleven months of 2016, while for the entire 2015 - 115 thousand tons (US$ 46.7 million). The main importers of Ukrainian sugar are Sri Lanka (20.3%), Georgia (13.9%) and Guinea (7.3%).

Economic Court of Kyiv region instituted the proceedings for bankruptcy of "Rakitnyansky sugar factory." The total amount of debt owed to creditors of the plant is US$ 112 million.
Armenia
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in January-October 2016 Armenia has produced 54 119 tons of sugar, which is 1.7% more than in the same period last year (in 2015 – 53 225 tons).
