RUSSIA

According to Williams Agency data for year 2015, total 58.9 thousand MT of sugar in containers was shipped to receivers in the CIS and Baltic countries. The largest recipient of the sugar is Russia – 47.5 thousand tons, Georgia has received 10.6 thousand tons. Shipments to Russia were performed on regular basis, reaching a peak in autumn; shipments to other countries were either seasonal or sporadic.

According to NCSP (Novorossiysk), the volume of transshipment of sugar in January 2016 has made 41.5 thousand tons, which is 107.9 thousand tons (or 66.4%) less than in 2015.

 

UKRAINE

The Agrarian Committee at the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) recommends approval of a bill on the abolition of state regulation in sugar industry; in particular, the draft eliminates the quota for production and introduction of bottom procurement prices. Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Elena Kovaleva has mentioned that state regulation of sugar sector does not encourage its development, and the market prices are often at odds compared to those established by the Cabinet of Ministers.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to Ministry of Economic Development, the country has harvested 183.2 thousand tons of sugar beet in 2015 (in 2014 – 133 600 tons) and has produced 24.8 thousand tons of sugar out of it, thus meeting 21.4% of the total sugar demand. In order to ensure a full load of capacities at sugar factory "Kaindy Kant" the supply should be 600 thousand tons of sugar beet at least; the anticipated volume of sugar production will range 70-80 thousand tons.
