RUSSIA

According to Rosstat, the consumer price of sugar has increased by 9.8% from the beginning of this year and has reached RUR 50.60/kg by June 22, 2015. The volume of production of sugar in Russia amounted to 490.5 thousand tons in January-May 2015, which is 21.4% less than the same period in 2014.

In agricultural enterprises owned by group of companies "Razguliay" farmers have started beet harvesting campaign, the acreage under sugar beet has remained at last year's value – 50 thousand hectares.

Farmers in Kursk region have planted total 105,000 hectares with sugar beet, but because of the dry winds they had to re-seed over 11 thousand hectares. Agriculture Committee of the region anticipates sugar beet harvest this year will be no less than in previous season (4 million tons in 2014).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, droughts are observed in a number of agricultural regions, however the official speak of growth in production of sugar beet – the new crop will be at least 9-10% higher this season.

 

UKRAINE

Agricultural enterprises of Ukraine (excluding the Crimea and Sevastopol) have sold 103.7 thousand tons of sugar in May 2015, which is 17% more than in April, reported the State Statistics Service. In January-May agricultural enterprises have traded 390.3 thousand tons of sugar, which is 43.3% more than during the same period in 2014.

KAZAKHSTAN

The price of sugar fell by 3.6% in Astana in June 2015 compared to the previous month; the average retail price of sugar makes 159 Kazakh Tenge.

BELARUS

The chance of drought grows in Belarus following the long-term shortage of rainfall. In some beet growing areas sugar beets has started withering.
