Tambov region began seeding sugar beet. According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, as of April 17, 2015, sugar beet was seeded on an area of 3.4 thousand ha, or 4% of the plan.

Refined sugar production in Russia has decreased by 11.4% in March 2015 compared to February and has made 76.8 thousand tons, Rosstat informed. From the beginning of the year Russia has produced 253 500 tons of sugar, which is 35.6% less than in the same period in 2014.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture information as of April 17, 2015, in some regions of the South, the North Caucasus and Central Federal Districts sugar beet was seeded on an area of 285.4 thousand ha, or 29.1% of the forecast (in 2014 the progress was 283.500 thousand ha).

Shareholders of Dmitrotaranovsky sugar plant (Belgorod region) at a meeting on April 16 decided to liquidate the company. According to the companies report, in 2014, plant revenue fell almost 2 times from the level of 2013 - RUR6.5 million, net profit amounted to RUR16 thousand.

UKRAINE
As of April 17, Ukrainian farmers have planted 170 thousand hectares with sugar beet, or 61% of the forecast (in 2014 the area planted was 304 thousand ha), reports the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
