RUSSIA

It is planned to cut sugar beet crops by 4 thousand hectares from previous 74 thousand hectares (in 2017) in Tatarstan, the republican ministry of agriculture reported.

According to the railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru for January - March 2018, Russia imported 68,251 MT of sugar. The largest exporting countries to Russia were Belarus (95.14%) and Lithuania (4.13%). Russian exports amounted to 164 838 MT, the main countries-recipients of Russian sugar were Uzbekistan (64.53%) and Kazakhstan (24.25%).

Domestic shipments amounted to 328 967 MT, the largest volume of dispatches was performed from Cheremovsky (6.61%) and Bekovsky (6.42%) sugar mills. The total transit of white sugar by rail through the territory of Russia was 102,158 MT.\

Customs Union

The duty on import of raw sugar to the Customs Union remains at $ 240/MT in April 2018. The average monthly price for raw sugar at the ICE stock exchange was $ 282.82/MT in March 2018, respectively, the import duty in May 2018 will grow to $ 250/MT.

UZBEKISTAN

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that it is planned to build a sugar factory in Jizzakh (a city in the east of Uzbekistan) and grow sugar beet.

The maximum prices for sugar beets, purchased for state needs were declared. The procurement price of 1 ton of sugar beet (without VAT) is set at Br 61.44 for conditioned and 49.05 for substandard beets (1801.97/1438.58 rubles).
