RUSSIA

According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, in 2018 the acreage of sugar beet will be reduced from 133 to 120 thousand hectares in Voronezh region, the regional administration reports.

The annual volume of sugar exports from Russia should be about 1 million tons, said the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russia Anatoly Kutsenko. Mr.Kutsenko has recalled that Russia delivered 550 thousand tons of sugar for export in 2017. According to his forecasts, in the 2017-2018 agricultural year, the exports will be in the range from 700 thousand to 1 million tons of sugar.
 

UKRAINE

According to Gosstat, the total volume of sales of sugar traded in the country in January-December of 2017 amounted to UAH 17818.0 million without VAT and excise tax (or about 35 943.5 million rubles at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation). Of which, the volume of sugar sold outside the country amounted to UAH 2,082.5 million (about 4 201 million rubles), which is 11.7% of the total sales volume.

As of January 31, 2018, Ukraine has produced 2.06 million tons of sugar and processed 14.32 million tons of sugar beet. This season 46 enterprises processed sugar beet, "Ukrtsukor" reports.

According to Gosstat, the national sugar beet production amounted to 14,491.42 thousand tons in 2017 (+ 3.4% from 2016 - 14.01 million tons). The average yield of sugar beet decreased by 3.3% and amounted to 46.55 MT/ha. Total acreage of sugar beet in 2017 in farms of all categories has made ​​311.3 thousand hectares (+ 6.9% vs. 2016).
