RUSSIA

Russian Federation has completed the sowing of sugar beet, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. By May 21, 2015 farmers in Russian have planted sugar beet on an area of 983,700 hectares, or 100.4% of the forecast (in 2014 - 903,100 hectares).

The Kashira district of Voronezh region has suffered from hail and dust storm and from squally wind; 600 hectares of sugar beet, sunflower and corn crops are damaged. The loss of sugar beet after the dust storms in the Belgorod region exceeds 3% (4 000 hectares of crops out of total 77,600 hectares in the region).

 

UKRAINE

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the country has imported 470 tons of sugar (HS code 1701), and 2178 tons of other sugars (HS code 1702) in January-March 2015. January-March exports of Ukraine feature the following commodities: Sugar (HS code 1701) – 37.7 thousand tons; other sugars – 4030 tons; molasses – 62.5 thousand tons and beet pulp (HS code 23 032) – 9850 tons.
