RUSSIA

Sugar manufacturers “Razguliay” and “Rusagro” may lose up to a third of their sugar beet crops in Voronezh region because of bad weather. According to provisional estimates, the impact of the disaster affected nearly 3000 hectares of the farmland of group “Razguliay” and almost 1500 hectares of “Rusagro”.

According to operative data of Soyuzrossakhar, as of May 19, 2015, Russia has sown sugar beet on an area of 980,900 hectares, or 100.1% of the forecast (in 2014 - 895,500 hectares).

According Soyuzrossahar, gusty winds brought severe damage to crops of sugar beet in Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Tambov and Lipetsk regions in the period May 15-19. A similar situation occurred in Penza region (Volga Federal District). It is possible to state right now that 46,000 hectares were almost completely destroyed in the three regions out of total 560 000 hectares of crops in the Central Federal District. Beet re-seeding operation would reduce the yield and quality of sugar beet, resulting in production costs higher by 25-30%.

According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture in Tambov region, sugar beet sowing was carried out on an area of 99.37 thousand hectares (105% of plan) by May 19, 2015. Targets have been exceeded by almost 5 thousand ha (planned acreage was 94,440 hectares). At the moment, the area planted with sugar beet exceeds 2014 figure by 14,500 hectares.

A procedure of monitoring was introduced at two Kazakh enterprises in Kursk region run by "Ivolga-Holding", one of the largest agricultural companies in the world. The Arbitration Court of Kursk Region stipulate financial monitoring for regional companies "Sugar Zolotukhino" and LLC "Zolotukhinsky agroobedinenie" following claims of the local branch of Sberbank.

 

UKRAINE

As of May 18 the country has planted 238,000 hectares (in 2014 - 326 thousand ha) with sugar beet, or 100% of the forecast.

BELARUS

In 2015 Belarus has supplied 39,000 tons of white sugar by rail transit Russia as of May 20, 2015. The main volume of 26,700 tons was delivered to Kazakhstan. In 2014, on the same date, the volume of Belarusian sugar was 36,800 tons.
