RUSSIA

According to the forecast made by FAS USDA, Russia will collect 38 million tons of sugar beet in 2015 or by 13% more than in 2014. The crops of sugar beets will increase from 919 000 hectares in the 2014/15 season to 960 000 hectares, and yields of the crop are expected to grow. FAS consider that 37 million tons of beets will go for processing and ensure manufacture of 4.5 million tons of sugar. This season sugar production was about 4.35 million tons; thus Russia will cover the domestic demand for sugar by 78%. Sugar consumption in the country will increase from 5.7 million tons to 5.8 million tons. Imports of the commodity in the season 2015/16 are estimated to reach 1.35 million tons including about 0.9 million tons of raw cane sugar and 0.45 million tons of refined sugar in raw sugar equivalent.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russian Federation, Russia has sown sugar beet was on an area of 789,500 ha by May 5, 2015 or 80.5% of the forecast (in 2014 - 786,600 hectares).

Estimation made by Soyuzrossakhar says that the Russian Federation has planted 809,800 hectares with sugar beet by May 5 (80.6% of the projected area of the crop). In 2014 789,400 hectares was planted for this date.

 

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Kazakh Statistics Agency, the prices for sugar from sugar manufacturers have not changed in April 2015 and from the beginning of the year have declined by 7.9%.
