RUSSIA

The Subcommittee on Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation has supported the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture to extend the current quota on exemption from customs duties on the import of white sugar until December 31, 2021. The maximum volume of imports for Russia will remain at 350 thousand tons.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of October 11, 2021, sugar beets were harvested from 553.3 thousand hectares; bulk harvest makes 21.1 million tons.

UKRAINE

As of October 11, 345.6 thousand tons of sugar were produced out of 2.67 thousand tons of sugar beets processed, Ukrtsukor reports. The sugar-making season has begun in the Chernihiv region.

BELARUS

As of October 12, 21, 32.8 thousand hectares under sugar beet or 38.8% of the plan were harvested  (in 2020 - 34.7 thousand hectares or 42.1% of the plan). As of the date indicated, the yield makes 45.98 MT/ha (in 2020 – 45.20 MT/ha). A total volume of  1510.2 thousand tons of sugar beet have been collected (in 2020 - 1567.7 thousand tons).

According to the National Statistics Service, the average consumer price for granulated sugar in September was 1.70 Belarusian rubles/kg. (RUR 49.54/kg at the average exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for September 2021).
