RUSSIA

Beet sugar production in Russia in the 2020/21 season may fall by a third to 5.1-5.2 million tons from a record 7.9 million tons last season due to a decrease in beet harvest, IKAR reports.

According to the monitoring data of the railway by Sugar.Ru, in December 2020, the import of white sugar by railway to the territory of the Russian Federation amounted to 7.4 thousand tons of white sugar. The export of sugar exceeded the indicators of October and November (30.5 and 24.8 thousand tons, respectively) and amounted to 31.6 thousand tons. Analysis of white sugar shipments by rail shows a significant decrease in sugar shipments compared to the previous season, which began after the signing of an agreement on a fixed price for sugar. Customs Union

The duty on import of raw sugar to the Customs Union dropped to $ 203/MT in January 2021. The average monthly price for raw sugar at the ICE stock exchange was $ 323,39/MT in December 2020, respectively, the import duty in February 2021 will rise to $240/MT.

UKRAINE

The country has produced 1,011.6 thousand tons of sugar and processed 7.63 million tons of sugar beets by January 4, 2021, Ukrtsukor reports.

BELARUS

The government approved the amount of a premium to agricultural producers for sugar beets sold in 2021 at the rate of Br 9.9 (RUR 282.38 at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation) excluding VAT.

The Council of Ministers has established the volume of 3 million tons of purchases of sugar beets for republican state needs in 2021. In 2020, a total of 2.8434 million tons were collected.

UZBEKISTAN

The Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan will introduce an excise tax on sugar imports of 20% from January 1, 2021. In addition, the Uzbek authorities did not extend the zero duty on sugar imports.
