RUSSIA

Cheremnovsky Sugar Refinery is finishing the sugar beet processing season. This season the plant has processed over 800 thousand tons of beets, produced about 139 thousand tons of white sugar.

NCSP Group (Port Novorossiysk) reports that the volume of transshipment of sugar and raw sugar in January – November 2018 amounted to 197 thousand tons (no operations in August), which is 255 thousand tons or 56.4% less than in January – November 2017.

KAZAKHSTAN

On January 14, 2018, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has issued a Resolution No. 917, under which the period of duty-free import of white sugar from third countries is extended until January 1, 2020. This decision makes it possible to import white sugar from third countries to the territory of the EEU countries. According to the Eurasian Sugar Association, the decision of the Government of Kazakhstan provides an opportunity to import white sugar from third countries into the territory of the EAEU countries at dumping prices and violates the agreements reached earlier.

BELARUS

According to the analysis of Statkom of the Republic of Belarus, conducted by Sugar.Ru, production of sugar decreased over the month by 4.72% in December 2018 and has made 145.5 thousand MT (in previous month - 152.7 thousand MT, in December 2017 - 157.6 thousand MT). Production of sugar by January-December 2018 decreased compared to the same period last year by 13,55% and has made 638 thousand MT (in 2017 - 738 thousand MT).
