According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of October 26, 2018, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 998.11 thousand hectares or 90.01% of the area sown (in 2017 – 991.83 thousand hectares).


As of October 26, 2018, 197 thousand hectares of sugar beet were harvested with 9.5 million tons of beet collected (71%) at a yield of 48.3 MT/ha, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.


2018 has featured a significant decrease of white sugar prices, which was driven by both the overproduction of beet sugar in the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan imports of sugar produced in the Republic of Kazakhstan, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation
