RUSSIA

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 04.10.2018 to 11.10.2018 the US dollar rate increased by 1.2% (on 04.10 - RUR 65.42/$, on 11.10 - RUR 66.18/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 0.40 RUR/kg (-1.03%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by 0.30 RUR/kg
(-0.83%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0.013 /kg (-2.20%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0.011 /kg (-1.98%).

Sugar prices continued to decline over the past week despite the fact that a number of companies did not actually sell sugar on the open market. Apparently, the apocalyptically low forecasts for the harvest no longer convince market participants, everyone understands that even with an annual production of 5.7 million tons of white sugar and taking into account Belarusian imports and high carryover stocks, there will be no shortage at all. However, the volume of expected production opposed by the level of consumption allows some speculators to make their game in the market, so it is possible that by the end of the season we will still see significant fluctuations in sugar prices.

According to Sugar.Ru railway monitoring, in the first 10 days of October 2018, Russia imported 9.1 thousand tons of sugar (11.5 thousand tons in September), all – from Belarus. Exports of white sugar by rail amounted to 7.9 thousand tons in ten days, of which 6.9 thousand tons went to Kazakhstan. The rate of transit shipments of sugar by the Russian railway increased, with 5.5 thousand tons of Ukrainian sugar (to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan), and 6.4 thousand tons of Belarusian sugar (including 5.3 thousand tons to Kazakhstan) transported.

Apparently, the sugar market of Uzbekistan in the near future will again begin to focus on raws. Raw sugar from a vessel previously destined to Kazakhstan has already left for the country, and now another ship from Brazil is being nominated (40 thousand tons). And in the near future, one more ship with about 40 thousand tons of raw sugar is planned to arrive in Uzbekistan.
