Imports and exports of sugar in Belarus for 6 months of 2018

RUSSIA

According to Rosstat data, processed by Sugar.Ru, total 135 thousand tons of chocolate and confectionery sugary products were produced in the Russian Federation in July 2018 (-10.2% to the previous month and + 7.2% to July 2017).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of August 17, 2018, an area of 9.0 thousand hectares (or 0.8% of the total sown area) of sugar beet were harvested (in 2017 - 32.2 thousand hectares).

Farmers of five districts of the Lipetsk region started harvesting sugar beet, the first plant was Agrosnabsakhar LLC (Yelets district) to start operation with fresh harvest. The plant began juice extraction on August 19. The launch of two other sugar factories, Dobrinsky and Lebedyansky, is scheduled for August 21.

BELARUS

According to the analysis of the data of the Federal Customs Service of Belarus, conducted by Sugar.Ru, in 6 months (January-June) of 2018, the export of white sugar (HS code 170199) amounted to 217.0 thousand tons (85.50% compared to the same period in 2017). The main recipients of Belarusian sugar in the first half of the year were: Russia (132 thousand tons), Kazakhstan (33 thousand tons) and Ukraine (23 thousand tons). Import of white sugar in 6 months made 31.5 thousand tons (158.80% compared to the same period in 2017) including from Russia - 24 thousand tons and from Poland - 7.5 thousand tons. Molasses exports (HS code 1703) for the first half of the year made 41.1 thousand tons (times 4.1 compared to the same period in 2017), the main recipient is Lithuania (18 thousand tons). Export of beet pulp (HS code 230320) amounted to 9580.0 tons.
