RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown at an area of 117.2 thousand hectares or 103.7% of the forecast as of May 29, 2017 (in 2016 – 1.06 thousand hectares).

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated May 30, 2017, total 9 vessels have been nominated to carry 327910 mt of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 190400 mt from 5 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

UKRAINE

According to Gosstat, in Ukraine beet sugar wasn’t produced in April 2017. Since the beginning of the year, 11 thousand tons of beet sugar have been produced, since the beginning of the 2016/17 season - 1947 thousand tons. Sugar stocks at the end of April amounted to 317.9 thousand tons.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food in the first quarter of 2017, Ukraine has exported 267,400 tons of sugar with a total cost of $131.5 million (it’s 8.6 times higher than in 2016 - 29,600 tons of sugar for $15 2 million).

KAZAKHSTAN

In Kazakhstan sugar beet was sown at an area of 18.3 thousand hectares (+14.4% to the forecast - 16.0 thousand hectares) as of May 29, 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.
