RUSSIA
The average price for sugar from industrial producers mounted to 36.9 thousand rubles per ton (+ 0.3% for the week, -16.7% to the corresponding date of 2016) in Russia, as of April 17, 2017. The average consumer sugar price for the week decreased by 0.2% and amounted to 43.6 rubles/kg by April 17, 2017 (-18.9% of the corresponding date in 2016), the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture report published on April 21, 2017, sugar beet was sown at the area of 599.8 thousand hectares or 53.1% of the forecast (in 2016 - 629.2 thousand hectares).

According to the published reports, the revenue of the sugar business of GC "Rusagro" in the 1st quarter of 2017 increased to RUR 7,409 billion or by 26% as compared to the 1st quarter of 2016.

BELARUS
As of April 24, 2017, total 59.2 thousand hectares were sown with sugar beet in the Republic of Belarus (61.7% of the plan), the Agriculture and Food Ministry reports.
UKRAINE
From April 10 to April 20, the average consumer price of sugar increased by 0.4%, on April 10, 2017 it was UAH 16.48/kg (RUR 34.66/kg at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation), and on April 20 it increased to UAH 16.55/kg (RUR 34.81/kg), the State Statistics Service reported. According to “Info-Industry”, the wholesale selling price of the commodity increased by 0.65% over the past week and was in the range of UAH 15200-15600/MT (RUR 31975.6-32817/MT). The price range for beet pulp granulated is UAH 3500-3800/MT (7362.8-7993.9 RUR/MT) (the whole volume of the commodity is practically contracted), the price range for molasses is 2500-2800 UAH/MT (RUR 5259.1-5890.2/MT) (the whole volume of the commodity is practically contracted).

In June a sugar deficit in Ukraine is possible due to a large volume of exports to the Southeast Asian market and to Ceylon, Oleg Pendzin, the executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, has suggested.

On April 21, 278 thousand hectares or 95% of the forecast were sown with sugar beet (the goal is 293 thousand hectares), according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the StatCom of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the production of sugar and molasses increased by 342.38% in March 2017 and amounted to 25,605 tons (in 2016 - 38,782 tons, in 2015 - 51,719 tons). Thus total 70 028 tons of sugar and molasses were produced from the beginning of 2017 season.

The Aksu sugar plant in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan will be put into operation on December 1. The plant is expected to receive investments for almost 15 billion tenge from commercial organizations and more than 2 billion will be invested by the state.
