RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown at an area of 318.5 thousand hectares or 28.2% of the forecast by April 11, 2017 (in 2016 - 257.1 thousand hectares). Sowing began in Lipetsk and Penza regions. This season Nizhny Novgorod region plans to harvest 210,000 tons of sugar beet.

According to the "Soyuzrossahar", warm weather that has established since the middle of March in southern Russia has facilitate the start of sowing campaign 7-10 days earlier than usual in the regions of the Southern Federal District. The rate of sowing sugar beet in Russia is twice as high as last year.

MOLDOVA

According to the Moldova Statcom, consumer prices for refined sugar increased by 0.6% in March 2017, and in annual terms (by March 2016) - by 10.9%.

BELARUS

According to the Statcom of the Republic of Belarus, consumer prices for refined sugar in the country fell by 0.27% in March 2017, and increased by 0.5% from the beginning of the year.

TURKMENISTAN

According to "Radio Azatlyk", farmers of the Balkan region of Turkmenistan are taxed at a rate of 500-1000 manat (about 142-285 US dollars at the official rate of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan) for an unfulfilled plan to collect sugar beet. According to farmers, the low quality of planting seeds allocated by the state, in particular, affects the quality of products and leads to lower yields.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the statistics committee of Kazakhstan, the wholesale price of sugar decreased by 3.88% and amounted to 223 tenge/kg (41.3 rubles/ton in rubles at the rate of the CBR for the middle of the reporting month) in March 2017. Earlier the prices were in 2016 - 207 tenge/kg, in 2015 - 142 tenge/kg).
