RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown on an area of 207.5 thousand hectares or 18.4% of the forecast as of April 6, 2017 (in 2016 - 92.3 thousand hectares).

According to the rail cargo statistics of Sugar.Ru, Russia imported 66.8 thousand tons of white sugar by rail in three months of 2017 (in 2016 - 72.4 thousand tons in 2015- 64.4 thousand tons). Excluding minor supplies of European sugar to Kaliningrad region, Belarus has supplied 97% of the remaining sugar to Russia.
UKRAINE
According to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, in 3 months (January - March) of 2017 the import of sugar (HS code 1701) has made 478 tons for total US$ 376 thousand; exports - 267,403 tons for $ 131,471 thousand. Import of other sugars (HS code 1702) amounted to 3,040 tons, exports - 10,451 tons. The maximum import of sugar came from Denmark (22.81%), the maximum volume was exported to Cote d'Ivoire (12.32%)
