RUSSIA

According to Soyuzrossakhar, the season of sugar beet processing has ended on March 4 in Russia. Total volume of sugar beet harvested in the season has made 47,542,300 tons (in 2015- 35,021,300 tons), volume of beet processed - 46,240,300 tons (in 2015- 34 331.7) and 6,083,400 tons of sugar produced against 5,177,600 tons last season. Total sugar production from sugar beet harvested in 2016 is expected to reach 6.15 million tons, taking into account the processing of sugar beet molasses and syrup. Sugar mills have produced 1.36 million MT of dried granulated pulp and 1.63 million MT of molasses.

PJSC "Mosneftegazstroykomplekt" has invested 120 million rubles in Tetkinsky and Olymsky sugar factories plants and has facilitated manufacture of 129,000 tons of sugar in 2016, or 1.4 times higher from the 2015 level. In 2017 "Mosneftegazstroykomplekt" plans to invest in factories another RUR 382 million earmarked for the installation of new centrifuges and the press to improve deeper pressing of pulp at Tetkinsky sugar factory as well as  for the modernization of fixed assets at Olymsky sugar factory.

Today Moscow Stock Exchange starts trading sugar with 90 days delivery. Supply of exchange transactions will take place at the accredited warehouses in the South, Central and Volga Federal Districts.

According to the monitoring rail cargo shipments by Sugar.Ru, in February 2017 Russia has imported 19,400 tons of white sugar. This is somewhat lower than the export for the last 4 months, and almost 2 times lower than imports in February last year (was 33,300 tons). In practice, the exclusive supplier of sugar to Russia remains Belarus (97% of total volume), the rest 3% are being dispatched to Kaliningrad region from Lithuania.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Federal Customs Service data analysis Kazakhstan, during the 1st month (January 2017) sugar exports (HS 1701) amounted to 2516 tons (in 2016 - 4.4 tons), import - 18.4 thousand tons (in 2016 - 9942.9 tons) with countries outside the Customs Union zone.

KYRGYZSTAN

In January, sugar prices from local production companies increased by 2.6% compared to the corresponding period last year, the Federal Customs Service reported.
