RUSSIA

In Russia the average consumer price for sugar amounted to 47.12 rubles per 1 kg in January 2017, or 1.66 rubles less than a month ago, according to Rosstat.

According to the railway cargo monitoring by Sugar.Ru, Russia imported 20.8 thousand tons of white sugar in January 2017 (in 2016- 18.4 thousand tons). Virtually the entire amount was supplied by Belarus Slutsk sugar refinery.

KAZAKHSTAN

Kazakh farmers, those who have supplied sugar beets to processors last fall, still cannot get payment for the commodity. The debt to farmers exceeds three and a half billion Tenge! (about RUR 637 million), according to the local press.

KYRGYZSTAN

In 2016, the yield of sugar beet has doubled from 36.0 MT/ha in 2015 to 67.0 MT/ha. In December 2016, sugar production in the country amounted to 9 565.3 tons of sugar; thus, in 2016, the industrial production of sugar in the country has made 67 034.1 tons (175% compared to 2015), reports the statistic committee.
