RUSSIA

Deputy Minister Ms. Astrakhantseva has announced that the self-sufficiency for sugar in Russia will amount to 94.7% in 2016.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by November 24, 2016 sugar beet was collected from the area of 1.0786 million hectares, or 97.1% of the crop acreage (in 2015 - 992.1 thousand hectares). Bulk harvest makes 50.1 million tons (in 2015 – 37.6 million tons), the average field yield makes 46.48 MT/ha (in 2015 – 37.94 MT/ha).

TURKMENISTAN

From the beginning of this year, after the abolition of free currency exchange, food prices have significantly increased, in particular, there was and excessive demand for sugar, says the Turkmen press. In some provinces of Turkmenistan sugar prices increased by 300% (from 3 to 12 manats or from 55.47 to 221.89 rubles at the current rate of the Central Banf of Russia). In the supermarkets of Turkmen capital sugar price has increased by 70% (from 2.90 to 4.80 manats or from 53.63 to 88.76 rubles), and is sold by 1.5 kg. per person.

UKRAINE

"Ukrtsukor" has already attained more than 30 business contacts within three days of participation "Ukrtsukor" at the largest food exhibition in the Asian region ANUFOOD China, including the supply of sugar to Sri Lanka, South Korea, Libya, Angola and the EU. Sugar prices in China's supermarkets are quite attractive, thus, the price for 1 kg of sugar will start from UAH 38 (95.87 rubles).

According to the State Statistics Service, in October 2016 the country has produced 16,200 tons of sugar confectionery (+8.72% compared to previous month and down by 3.57% compared to October 2015). The total production of sugar confectionery has amounted to 152 100 tons from the beginning of the year (in 2015 - 156.3 thousand tons).
