RUSSIA

The farms in Belgorod region started harvesting sugar beet. The beet acreage this year has made 77,500 hectares. As of August 26, sugar beet was harvested from the area of 632 hectares with 20 thousand tons of beets collected; the average yield makes 31.8 MT/ha.

In the first half of the year the volume of sales by Sugar segment of "RusAgro" has made RUR 15.219 billion, revenues – RUR 337 million. Total volume produced makes 68 thousand tons of sugar (6 thousands made of sugar beet and 60 000 processed from imported raw sugar). The volume sold made 344 000 tons of refined sugar at an average price of RUR 43.1/kg..

"RusAgro" has started processing sugar beet in Belgorod region. Sugar enterprises of "RusAgro" in other regions are expected to start juice extracting during the week.

According to the figures dated August 25, 2016 and issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia has harvested sugar beets from the area of 58 500 ha (5.3% of the crop acreage); the volume collected makes 2 645 000 MT with the average yield of 45.22 MT/ha.

UKRAINE

The Canadian company Fairfax Financial Holdings has agreed to acquire a 9.99% stake in Ukrainian agricultural holding Astarta. The deal is scheduled to close by February 24, 2017.

BELARUS

In Belarus the stocks of sugar with industrial plants have made 39.4 thousand tons on August 1, 2016, which is 48.4% less than it was on July 1, 2016, according to Statistic Committee of Belarus.
