RUSSIA
In July 2016 the consumer prices for sugar in Russia have increased by 4.6%; from the beginning of the year – by 8.4%; and in year-on- year terms (July 2016 to July 2015) – by 10.3%, according to Rosstat.

At the 7th Agricultural Forum "Saratov-Agro.Field Day.2016" the results of the annual contest of the Union of Sugar Producers of Russia and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia "Best sugar beet farm in Russia 2015" were announced. A special Diploma, a special medal and a gift (free subscription to "Sugar" magazine) were awarded to:
- "Poles'ye" LTD, Balashov area
- "Rosagro-Saratov" LLC, Balashov area
- "Vershina" LLC, Romanovsky district
- "Ulyanovsky" JSC, Rtishchevskaya area
KAZAKHSTAN
The 2 national sugar factories (Merken and Koksu) are getting ready for the processing of sugar beet harvest in 2016 season; both plants are scheduled to start operation in mid-September. The volume of sugar beet to be harvested and processed is expected to reach 250 thousand tons; refined sugar production is anticipated at about 30 thousand tons.
UKRAINE
According to forecasts by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukrainian farmers will collect about 13 million tons of sugar beets this season, and 44 plant, which have received permission for sugar production in the future Marketing Year, are expected to manufacture 1,8-1,85 million tons of sugar. Taking into account the transitional balance of sugar, the Ministry says, that the offer of sugar will exceed 2 million tons, while domestic demand will be lower than that – at about 1.6 million tons.
