RUSSIA

The Republic of Bashkortostan planted 49,900 hectares with sugar beet– 99.7% of the plan – as of May 26, according to the republican Ministry of Agriculture. According to Agriculture control authorities of Russia, the country has seeded sugar beet on an area of 1,064,400 hectares – 100.4% of the forecast by May 26, 2016 (in 2015 – 999.7 thousand hectares).

UKRAINE

According to AAA Consulting Agency, it is expected that the bulk beet harvest will be no less than last year in a view of the forecasts for a relatively low yield of 43.5 MT/ha in 2016. Sugar production will be at the level of annual consumption (1.5-1.7 million tons).

 

At the meeting held on May 25, the shareholders of agricultural holding "Astarta" (Kiev) have resolved to leave the 2015 net profit retained. Sugar plants of "Astarta" have produced 355 thousand tons of sugar by the end of the season 2015/2016.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the country has planted 10,900 ha with sugar beet (87.9% of the plan) by May 27 2016. In Almaty oblast farmers have seeded 6400 hectares (100% of the plan); in Zhambyl region – 4.5 thousand ha (74.9% of the plan).

AZERBAIJAN

Import of raw sugar and sugar has amounted to 41 930 tons in the Quarter I of 2016 for the total value of US$ 18 945.9 thousand) (or 16% less than in 2015).

BELARUS

Slutsk Sugar Refinery was recognized to be the best in the EAEC among more than 80 specialized companies participated in the contest conducted by the Union of Sugar Producers of Russia, concern "Belgospischeprom" and the Association of beet sugar producers and Kazakhstan. Up to thirty per cent of sugar produced in the country comes from Slutsk.
