Workers of “Kanevsksahar” (Kanevsky) sugar plant have started an indefinite picket in the village of Kanev and pickets in the Krasnodar Regional Court, demanding to prosecute Mr Pavel Ignatenko, the former factory director general, as well as his possible accomplices, against whom a criminal case was opened to investigate the theft of 6 thousand tons of sugar.

According to data by the Ministry of Agriculture as of April 27, 2016, Russia has sown sugar beet on an area of 733 thousand ha or 69.2% of the forecast (in 2015 – 585.6 thousand hectares on same day).

BELARUS
Farmers in Belarus have planted 81 900 hectares with sugar beet (which makes 85.6% of the plan) by April 28, 2016.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the Bureau of national statistics of Kazakhstan, the volume of import of sugar and raw sugar has amounted to 50 700 tons added by 20.0 thousand tons of white sugar for 3 months of 2016.
