RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of September 29, 2020, sugar beets were harvested from 374.7 thousand hectares, or 40.4% of the acreage sown; 13.4 million tons collected; average yield makes 35.84 MT/ha.

Harvesting of sugar beet continues In the Kursk region, about 1.2 million tons were harvested. In the Ryazan Region, as of September 29, 2020, 50% of the crop area was harvested and 105 thousand tons of beet collected. In Tatarstan, according to operational data as of September 30, 2020, sugar beets were harvested from 28.3 thousand hectares or 57% of the area sown (in 2019 - 28.1 thousand hectares); 1,243.9 thousand tons (in 2019 - 1,194.8 thousand tons) of crops were collected; average yield makes 43.99 MT/ha (in 2019 – 42.57 MT/ha).

On September 29, 2020, 14 sugar contracts were sold at NTB. The total volume of sales has made 580 MT at the average price of RUR 39716/MT (US$504.83/MT at the exchange rate of CBR on date indicated). Trading session closed at $502.1/MT (CFO), $502.1/MT (YFO), $523.76/MT (PFO).

UKRAINE

As of September 24, 2020, Ukrainian farmers have already harvested 242 thousand tons of sugar beets from 5 thousand hectares (2% of total acreage). The average yield of sugar beet since the beginning of the harvesting campaign makes 48.21 MT/ha. The sugar beet harvesting campaign has started in:

  • Lviv region - 94.9 thousand tons collected from 1.7 thousand hectares; average yield makes 55.89 MT/ha;
  • Rivne region - 78.5 thousand tons collected from 1.96 thousand hectares; average yield makes 40.1 MT/ha;
  • Ternopil region - 68.4 thousand tons collected from 1.36 thousand hectares; average yield makes 50.2 MT/ha.
