RUSSIA

On September 24, 2020, 15 sugar contracts were sold at NTB. The total volume of sales has made 780 MT at the average price of RUR 37796/MT (US$495.01/MT at the exchange rate of CBR on date indicated). Trading session closed at $496.37/MT (CFO), $495.01/MT (PFO).

According to Soyuzrossakhar, as of September 22, 2020, 264.7 thousand hectares of beet (28.5% of the crop acreage) were harvested; 9.45 million tons of sugar beet were collected. In 2019, 386.1 thousand hectares were harvested on this date. The average yield of sugar beet is 35.7 MT/ha compared to 43.1 MT/ha last year or (decrease by 17.2%).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of September 24, 2020, sugar beets were harvested from 298.3 thousand hectares or 32.2% of the area sown; 10.6 million tons of beet collected; average yield makes 35.61 MT/ha.

Russia will reduce the production of beet sugar to 4.9-5.3 million tons this year, the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) predicts. The forecast is made taking into account the processing of syrup and molasses.

UKRAINE

As of September 24, the country has produced 44.1 thousand tons of sugar out of 360.5 thousand tons of sugar beet processed. Ten sugar factories are in operation.

BELARUS

As of September 25, 2020, sugar beets have been harvested from an area of 14.5 thousand hectares or 17.6% of the area sown (in 2019 - 27.7 thousand hectares), the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus has informed Sugar.Ru. Total 652.0 thousand tons (in 2019 - 1254.4 thousand tons) of beet were collected; average yield makes 44.94 MT/ha (in 2019 – 45.24 MT/ha); sucrose content is 15.58% against 16.33% on the same date last year.
