According to Soyuzrossakhar, as of August 31, 2020, sugar beet is being processed by 18 sugar factories: in Krasnodar, Stavropol and Altai Territories, in the Republic of Tatarstan. The daily sugar production volume makes 13.0 thousand tons. In the current season, the start of beet processing season is 10-15 days behind 2019 schedule due to low yield and quality of sugar beets. Having in mind a significant reduction in the yield and quality of sugar beets, as well as a drop in acreage by 18% this season, the overall decrease of the production of sugar beet, beet sugar, bagasse and molasses to be anticipated.

The harvesting of sugar beets began in the Lipetsk region on August 31, 2020, the regional Department of Agriculture reported. Kursk region has started beet harvesting campaign as well.
