RUSSIA

Bashkiria plans to maintain sugar beet acreage in 2020, despite the closure of the Meleuzovsky sugar factory, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Ilshat Fazrakhmanov said.

According to the analytical service of Soyuzrossahar, sugar beet processing season in the Russian Federation was finished on March 14, 2020. Total 50.5 million tons of sugar beets were processed, which is 12.0 million tons more than the previous season; 7.55 million tons of beet sugar were produced, which exceeded by 1.69 million tons the production volume in the 2018/19 season. 3 sugar factories continue processing of beet molasses and syrup from which about 200 thousand tons of sugar may be produced. With this in mind, the production of beet sugar in the 2019/20 season is confirmed at the level of 7.7 million tons. In the 2019/20 season 1.91 million tons of dried granulated pulp were produced, which is 0.56 million tons more than last year and 1.93 million tons of molasses, which is 0.50 million tons more than last season.

BELARUS

The EEC Board has agreed to extend the period of state regulation of prices for white crystalline sugar in Belarus from March 31 to December 31, 2020 inclusive. Earlier in the Republic of Belarus from January 1 to March 30, state regulation was introduced. The maximum minimum prices for sugar produced (imported) and sold in Belarus, as well as maximum trading allowances for the selling price of the producer (importer) were established at 15%.
