Sugar beet harvesting update from Ukraine and Belarus and other sugar news, Nov 07, 2019

UKRAINE

As of November 6, 2019, 192 thousand hectares of sugar beets were harvested, 8448 thousand tons of beets collected. The average field yield is 44.0 MT/ha against 49.0 MT/ha in 2018.

Ukrtsukor Association forecasts sugar production in the 2019/2020 season will make 1.1–1.2 million tons. In the season 2018/2019, sugar factories produced 1.82 million tons of sugar.

BELARUS

By November 6, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 89.7 thousand hectares or 96.2% of the area sown (in 2018 - 96.1 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. About 4572.8 thousand MT (in 2018 - 4586 thousand MT) of beets were collected, with an average yield of 51 MT/ha (in 2018 – 47.71 MT/ha). The sugar content in beet in the republic is 16.84% versus 16.94% for the same date last year.

In 2019, the Government will provide Belarusbank Savings Bank OJSC with a guarantee of repayment of the main amount of debt on loans issued to the Gorodeysky Sugar Refinery, Zhabinka Sugar Plant and Skidel Sugar Refinery for the production of sugar for republican state needs.
