RUSSIA

Rusagro began the sugar beet processing season on August 25, the first plant in the Tambov region was launched. The remaining plants will be launched within two weeks, the company press release says.

As of August 27, 2019, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 80.3 thousand ha or 7% of the crop acreage (54.2 thousand ha in 2018), 3.5 million tons of sugar beets collected (in 2018 - 1.8 million tons) at an average yield of 43.16 MT/ha (in 2018 – 33.72 MT/ha).

Sugar beet is being processed at 16 sugar factories in Krasnodar region. Since the beginning of the season the sugar enterprises have procured about 2.5 million tons of raw materials, of which over 2.2 million tons of sugar beets have been processed, with 310 thousand tons of sugar produced by report date, the regional ministry of agriculture reports.

Sugar beet processing started at the Olym Sugar Plant in Kursk region on August 24, 2019. As of August 26, three plants are operating in the region: Olymsky, Zolotukhinsky and Rylsky, Soyuzrossahar reports.

Total number of plants processing beet in Russia makes 33 out of 74 sugar plants as of August 26 2019. To date, over 3.2 million tons of beets have been harvested and 380 thousand tons of sugar produced, which is 150 thousand tons more than last year.

BELARUS

According to the information of the Belsakhar Association, the Gorodeisk Sugar Plant has started processing sugar beets of the 2019 harvest on August 28. Slutsk sugar refinery, Zhabinka sugar factory and Skidel sugar factory will begin a new juice extracting season in the coming days.
