Farmers in Stavropol started harvesting sugar beets, on August 16 total 91.5 thousand tons sugar beets were collected from an area of 2.3 thousand ha, an average yield makes 39.97 MT/ha. Sugar beets are supplied for processing at Stavropolsahar OJSC (Izobilnensky), with 11.9 thousand tons were received, 9.3 thousand tons were processed; average sucrose content is 16%.

As of August 16, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 32.7 thousand ha or 2.9% of the crop acreage (in 2018 - 8.7 thousand ha), 1.4 million tons of sugar beet collected (in 2018 - 278.3 thousand tons) with an average yield of 43.75 MT/ha (in 2018 – 31.88 MT/ha), the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

According to Astarta report for the first half of 2019, revenue from the sugar segment decreased by 20% to 55 million euros due to lower sales (153 thousand tons compared to 185 thousand tons in the first half of 2018) and low prices .
