Sugar market news from Russia and CIS countries, June 10, 2019

RUSSIA

According to the analysis of customs declarations of FCS conducted by Sugar.ru, in April 2019 Russia has imported 26.3 thousand tons of white sugar (HS code 170199). According to the results of 4 months of white sugar import campaign, Russia has shipped in 105.2 thousand tons (in 2018 - 88.3 thousand MT; in 2017 - 94.7 thousand MT). In the period January - April 2019, the main countries exporters of white sugar to Russia were BELARUS (90.30%) and POLAND (4.76%).

In April 2019 Russia has exported 12.4 thousand tons of white sugar. According to the results of 4 months of white sugar export campaign, Russia has shipped out 43.0 thousand tons (in 2018 - 192.5 thousand MT; in 2017 - 155.5 thousand MT). In the period January - April 2019, the main countries importers of white sugar from Russia were KAZAKHSTAN (66.91%) and UKRAINE (19.99%)

UKRAINE

Caesar Maciborsky has resigned from the position of commercial director of the agricultural company Astarta-Kiev, and Ostap Palchevsky was appointed acting director on June 5. Th e news was reported by Latifundist, with reference to the press service of the company. For the past three years, Ostap Palchevsky has headed the direction of oilseeds and soybean products  division in Astarta-Kiev.

KAZAKHSTAN

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan announced the completion of the sugar beet sowing campaign in the republic. As of June 7, 2019, the sowing of sugar beet in Kazakhstan has made 19.6 thousand hectares out of the planned 22.8 thousand hectares (in 2018 - 19.42 thousand hectares out of 21.5 thousand hectares) in the following proportion:

  • Almaty region - 14.0 thousand hectares (99.3% of the plan);
  • Zhambyl region - 5.6 thousand hectares (64.4% of the plan).

TURKMENISTAN

In the two regions of Turkmenistan, sugar beet will be sown on 17,900 hectares of irrigated land following the harvest of grain, the presidential decree said.
