According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 04.04.2019 to 11.04.2019 the US dollar rate dropped by -0,7% (on 04.04 - RUR 65,16/$, on 11.04 - RUR 64,74/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 0,80 RUR/kg (-2,29%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by 0,60 RUR/kg

(-1,82%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0,009 /kg (-1,68%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0,006 /kg (-1,19%).

Last week, sugar prices continued to fall. The demand is low, with the price at the NTB stock exchange fluctuating in the range 32.00-32.20 rubles/kg, and sugar is bought for current needs only. Buyers do not believe in rising prices for sugar. A couple of times the price fell to 31.90 rubles/kg (basis of the Central Federal District), but even then the demand for sugar was low. At such exchange prices, it must be assumed, prices for large wholesale and “collective farm sugar” may be lower, but they are usually not advertised. A common gist are the assumptions about large stocks and that they will have to go to the market. Also a negative factor is the early sowing of sugar beet, and, accordingly, the early entry of new crop into the sugar market in the next marketing year. Positive news are soon long holidays and the need to create, albeit small, but still stocks of sugar.

Kazakhstan finally has taken away its portion of raw sugar from a steamer, after the third month of waiting in the port of Novorossiysk. Total 13.6 thousand tons of raw sugar went to the Taraz Sugar Refinery, the rest of the sugar, earlier destined to Kazakhstan, went to Romania. If suppliers of raw sugar to Kazakhstan (now the company “Louis Drefus”) do not want to step on the same rake any more, then Kazakhstan will be forced to buy sugar in Russia and Belarus.

According to Sugar.Ru railway monitoring, in the first decade of April, Russia imported 11.6 thousand tons of white sugar, of which 544 tons was Ukrainian sugar, which arrived in Kaliningrad (from the beginning of the year total 3.3 thousand tons of white sugar arrived from Ukraine). The rest of the sugar imports to Russia was provided by Belarus. Sugar exports remain at the same level, for 10 days of April, 3.9 thousand tons of white sugar were shipped to Kazakhstan. Apparently, the decline in prices is not reflected in the volume of exports. The transit of sugar by the Russian railway amounted to 9.5 thousand tons since the beginning of April (3.5 thousand tons - Belarus and 6.0 thousand tons - Ukraine), deliveries were made to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

UKRAINE

As of April 10, 2019, sowing of sugar beet in Ukraine was carried out on an area of 167 thousand hectares or 68% of the forecast, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reports.

BELARUS
