RUSSIA

GC "Rusagro" plans to increase the processing capacity of sugar beet to 53.8 thousand tons / day in 2019 against 53 thousand tons / day at the beginning of the season-2017/18, as well as to implement the project for the construction of a second molasses desalting station at the Chernyansky plant, the launch of which is scheduled for autumn 2019, and which will allow processing all molasses produced by the six sugar factories of the group and increase the production of sugar by 74 thousand tons per year. The cost of the station will be 5.7 billion rubles. The project implementation period is 2018-2020.

From 22 to 28 May 2018 consumer sugar prices in Russia increased by 1.4%, and from the beginning of the year (by the end of December 2017) - by 8.6%, according to Rosstat.

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 24.05.2018 to 30.05.2018 the US dollar rate increased by 1,7% (on 24.05 - RUR 61,59/$, on 30.05 - RUR 62,64/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar increased by 0,40 RUR/kg (+1,14%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by 0,10 RUR/kg (+0,29%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0,003 /kg (-0,53%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0,007 /kg (-1,26%).

This week did not give an answer to the question, where wholesale prices will go on the eve of the new season. "Prodimex" tried to raise the price by 0.1 rubles / kg a couple of times, but this did not lead to any result. Market participants noted Rusagro's attempts to sell sugar at a price of 34.5 rubles per kilo and slightly lower against the official price of 36 rubles per kilogram. However, the lowest price is worn by the so-called "Kolkhoz sugar", which was stored in the warehouses of plants and must be taken out before the beginning of preparatory work for the new season. "Kolhozniks" offer their sugar at 30.80 rubles per kilo without VAT and at 22.90 rubles per kilo with VAT, and until it is sold out, there is no sense to speculate about the potential increase in prices. Demand in the regions is low.

The final export of Russian white sugar by rail in May was 16.2 thousand tons, making total since the beginning of the season - 422.2 thousand tons. The transit of sugar by the Russian railway in May 2018 displays quite significant volumes: Ukraine delivered 48.9 thousand tons, of which 43.5 thousand tons to Uzbekistan (in April, only 30.1 thousand tons). Belarus - 14.9 thousand tons, of which 11.6 thousand tons to Kazakhstan (in April, only 12.8 thousand tons). However, given the shortage of sugar in Kazakhstan, we may increase exports next month.

One of the ships with raw sugar in Novorossiysk has unloaded 6,000 tons of raws and again went off to stay on roads (minus ~ $ 15,000 for just a move, not counting the continuing fine for a simple one). In Georgia, at the moment, two vessels are being unloaded in Batum and Poti, according to preliminary data in the name of Armenian receiver.

ARMENIA

In April 2018, Armenia imported 1289 tons of sugar and raw sugar (HS Code 1701) for total $ 628.92 thousand; 175 tons of other sugars (code 1702) for total $ 93.77 thousand and 18.9 tons of molasses for $ 5.2 thousand, according to the National Statistics Committee.
