RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of May 4, 2018, sugar beet was sown on an area of 665.7 thousand hectares or 60.8% of the forecast (in 2017 - 990.2 thousand hectares).

In April 2018 consumer prices for refined sugar in Russia increased by 3.7% (by March 2018), and in annual terms (by April 2017) - decreased by 12.9%, according to Rosstat.

Consumption of sugar per capita in 2017, according to preliminary data, was 39.4 kg with a recommended consumption rate of 24 kg, says the report of the Ministry of Agriculture.

BELARUS

As of May 7, 2018, total area of 98.4 thousand hectares was sown with of sugar beet (101.8% of the plan) compared to 92.46 thousand hectares in 2017 sown by the date. Only 0.11 thousand hectares remained in the Grodno region, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

KYRGYZSTAN

The board of directors of the sugar plant "Koshoi" has kept Alexander Barbalat at the position of General Director after, who has been running the enterprise since 2001.

UKRAINE

In Ivano-Frankivsk region sugar beet was sown on 780 hectares (100%) by May 4, 2018 the press service of the regional administration reports.

According to the analysis of figures by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, for the 4 months (January-April 2018) the export of sugar (the HS code 1701) has made 205,900 tons worth $ 82,003,000. The main export was made to Uzbekistan (34.4% in monetary terms), Turkey (18.5%) and Libya (8.4%).
