RUSSIA

According to Rosstat, the volume of sales of sugar beet by agricultural companies amounted to 39.6 million tons in 2017, which is 5.7% more than in 2016.

In January 2018 consumer prices for granulated sugar in Russia decreased by 0.9%, and in the annual calculation (January 2018 by January 2017) - by 22.5%, according to Rosstat.

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 01.02.2018 to 08.02.2018 the US dollar rate increased by 1,4% (on 01.02 - RUR 56,18/$, on 08.02 - RUR 56,95/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 0,60 RUR/kg (-2,06%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by 0,10 RUR/kg (-0,38%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0,018/kg (-3,47%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0,008/kg (-1,69%).

Over the past week, wholesale prices for sugar remained stable or slightly declined. Demand, as sellers complain, is practically non-existent. On Wednesday, February 7, there was an attempt by a number of market players to play uptrend, unsuccessful so far. According to the railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, for 8 days of February Russia imported the statistical average 5 000 tons of white sugar. Export continues to please, in 8 days a volume of 23 thousand tons of sugar were shipped via railway, of which 20.2 thousand tons – to Uzbekistan. Steamboats with raw material for Uzbekistan are not visible on the way, so we still have a couple of months of comfortable export. Since early February, Ukraine has also delivered 4.3 thousand tons of sugar to Uzbekistan transit Russia railway.

UKRAINE

According of the report by Astarta, the largest producer of sugar in the country, in the latest season (since August 2017) the company has produced more than 463 thousand tons of sugar, processing about 3.1 million tons of sugar beet. The share of sugar of the first category, complying with international export requirements, amounted to about 90% of the total production. After commissioning of the pulp drying complex at the Narkevichi sugar factory, the total production of granulated pulp increased by 19% to make 43 thousand tons.

UZBEKISTAN

New limits of duty-free export / import of goods to Uzbekistan by individuals have been established, in particular, it is allowed to export up to 2 kg of sugar from Uzbekistan.
