RUSSIA

The transition to domestic seeds and harvesting
combines immediately kills two problems: import
substitution and overproduction of sugar

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 12.10.2017 to 19.10.2017 the US dollar rate dropped by -1.1% (on 12.10 - RUR 57.92/$, on 19.10 - RUR 57.27/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 1.50 RUR/kg (-5.56%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by 1.20 RUR/kg (-4.90%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0.021/kg (-4.51%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0.016 /kg (-3.78%).

Nothing new has happened over the past week, the "creeping" drop in sugar prices has continued. The minimum wholesale price from manufacturers stopped at around 23 rubles per kilo, but is accompanied by all kinds of encumbrances: the limit on sales volume, the requirements for the immediate export of sugar, etc., which makes the physical purchase of such sugar rather difficult, if not impossible task. Nevertheless, such policy pulls the market down; buyers demand from companies "…give me a price offer, same as Prodimex, but without restrictions". Actual prices are in the range of 23.5-24.0 rubles / kg.

Export of sugar continues to be quite high, in 19 days of October, total 16.5 thousand tons of white sugar were shipped for export. Loudly announced by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, sugar exports to Uzbekistan have not yet been observed.

UKRAINE

As of October 18, total volume of 672,600 tons of sugar was produced out of 4,990,000 tons of sugar beet processed.
