RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of September 1, 2017, sugar beet in the country was harvested from an area of 121.7 thousand hectares or 10.2% of the area sown (in 2016 - 95.7 thousand hectares). The volume of sugar beet collected makes 5.2 million tons (in 2016 - 4.3 million tons), with a yield of 42.34 MT/ha (in 2016 – 44.65 MT/ha).

By decision of the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the bankruptcy manager of LLC "Karlamansky Sugar" Ruslan Baranov was suspended from his duties. The court session on the approval of the bankruptcy trustee is scheduled for August 22, 2017.

German agricultural machinery manufacturer ROPA has invested € 2 million to expand its production in the Lipetsk region (LLC Ropa Rus).

The Union of Sugar Producers of Russia forecasts the production of sugar in this season at the level of 6.3-6.5 million tons. In 2016 the sugar beet harvest was a record, 32% higher than the level of 2015 and amounted to 51.4 million tons. As a result, 6.1 million tons of sugar (taking into account production from molasses has made 6.2 million tons), with domestic demand of 5.8 million tons of sugar.

BELARUS

As of September 1, 2017, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 2.73 thousand hectares or 2.78% of the area sown (in 2016 - 5.06 thousand hectares). 114.6 thousand tons (in 2016 - 208,4 thousand tons) of beets were collected at average yield of 42.04 MT/ha (in 2016 – 41.16 MT/ha). The sugar content in
beets is 14.99% versus 16.1% for the same date last year.

GEORGIA

The consumer sugar prices fell by 1.7% In August 2017, compared to the previous month, and on an annualized basis (August 2017 by August 2016) – decreased by 1.78%, according to the National Statistics Committee.

UKRAINE

According to Ukrstat, as of August 30, 2017, the average consumer price of sugar in Ukraine was 16.18 UAH/kg (37.23 rubles/kg at the Central Bank exchange rate for the reporting day), which is 0.49% less than the price of the previous observation date 9 days ago. Over the year (since August 30, 2016)
sugar has grown in price by 20.48%, in two years (since August 28, 2015) the price of sugar has grown by 39.97%. The highest prices are observed in the Lugansk region - 17.40 UAH/kg, the lowest - in the Rovny region, 15.34 UAH/kg.

By September 1, sugar beet was harvested from the area of 1.6 thousand hectares, with 74.4 thousand tons of beets collected, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of the country reports.

According to the Sugar.Ru monitoring data for August 2017, Ukraine has shipped 8.7 thousand tons of white sugar by rail transit Russia (in August 2016 – 5.3 thousand tons). Thus, total Ukrainian transit of sugar for 8 months of 2017 by Russian rail has reached 31.2 thousand tons (in 2016 - 47.2 thousand tons). The main recipient of Ukrainian transit sugar in 2017 is Azerbaijan - 62%.
