RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, farmers in Krasnodar region and the Chechen Republic have seeded 22.5 thousand hectares and 0.1 thousand hectares with sugar beet respectively as of March 30, 2017.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, the national sugar beet sowing area will grow by 18 000 hectares from the level of 2016 and will make 1.13 million hectares. Earlier, Soyuzrossahar, in its turn, has predicted an increase in crops by 40,000 hectares to 1.15 million hectares total.

BELARUS

The production of sugar beet is planned to reach total 4.8 million tons in 2017 season, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

KAZAKHSTAN

Wholesale sugar sellers in Semey city were fined for "illegal price increases". According to the Committee for Regulation of Natural Monopolies and Protection of Competition, by "unreasonably" raising the price of sugar, 4 companies have violated the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of competition protection.
