RUSSIA

According to Andrey Korobok, the vice-governor of Krasnodar region, sugar beet crop area will grow to 178 500 hectares in the region in 2016 season, which is 23 thousand hectares more than last year. Regional sugar plants expect to receive not less than 9 million tons of beets. At the moment the region has started sugar beet sowing campaign already.

Sugar beet and sunflower acreage in Bashkortostan in 2016 season will remain at the level of the previous year, according to Ildar Nasyrov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the republic. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the wholesale price of sugar has decreased by 0.7%, retail price – by 0.2% in the period March 10-14, 2016. Imports of raw sugar in January-March 2016 (as of March 6, 2016) exceed by 10.1% those in the same period of 2015.

 

BELARUS

Brest region plans to receive not less than 860 000 tons of sugar beet in 2016, as announced by Anatoly Lis, Chairman of the regional executive committee.

According to the Federal Customs Service of Belarus, the export of white sugar (HS 170199) amounted to slightly less than 30 thousand tons in January 2016 (93.1% of the volume exported in the same period last year), of which 28 700 tons were delivered to Russia. Due to the ending of the processing season beet molasses export decreased to 2 600 tons (in December 2015 - 11.9 thousand tons) supplied in full volume to the Baltic countries. Import of raw sugar (HS 170114) has made 21.5 thousand tons supplied in equal shares by Brazil and Cuba; imports of other sugars (HS 1702) have made total 928 tons.
