According to price monitoring by sugar.ru, in the period Aug 20-27, 2015 the dollar exchange rate continued to rise and has jumped by 5.5% (on Aug 20 US$ 1=RUR 65.72; on Aug 27 US$ 1=RUR 69.31). A significant increase of dollar value in a very short period of time has turned out to be a bigger factor than supply of cheap beet sugar, so the ruble prices have rallied. Moscow ruble price of sugar rose by RUR 2.00/kg (+ 4.65%), Krasnodar price rose by RUR 1.70/kg (+ 4.22%). Moscow US dollar equivalent price, traditionally featuring higher inertia, fell by US$ 0.005/kg (-0.76%); in Krasnodar price dropped by US$ 0.007/kg (-1.14%).UKRAINE

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the draft of the law on the abolition of the minimum prices for sugar and sugar beet in the country. The purpose of the abolition of the regulation would mean the development of competition, as the sugar mills would have an incentive to reduce the cost of their products, believes the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
