RUSSIA

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia reports, total sugar beet acreage harvested has made 28 300 (2.3% of total ) by August 25, 2015 (53 400 ha in 2014 season). Bulk harvest makes 850 800 (2.1 mln) MT; average yield – 35.77 (40.06) MT/ha.

Sugar beet harvesting campaign continues in the Southern, North-Caucasian, Central, Volga and Siberian Federal Districts As of August 25, 2015. Harvested total 59,200 hectares of crops (5.8% of the total acreage), reports Soyuzrossahar.

According to the forecast of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), the production of beet sugar in the season 2015/16 could reach 4.6 million tons, which is 200,000 tons more than in the 2014/15 agricultural year. The growth of production is explained by of sugar beet acreage this season. Sugar consumption will make 5.5-5.6 million tons, as estimated by IKAR.

 

UKRAINE

At the session on Wednesday the Cabinet of Ministers plans to agree the amendments to the law "On state regulation of production and sale of sugar", which will abolish the minimum prices for sugar and sugar beet.

Deliveries of Ukrainian sugar and confectionery products to Russia have decreased more than four times – down to US$ 2.4 million in the first half of 2015 if compared to the corresponding period in 2014, according to "Institute of agrarian economy." The main buyers of Ukrainian sugar and confectionery products this year are Kyrgyzstan, which accounts for 19.5% of exports, Kazakhstan (12.8%), Romania (7.6%), Azerbaijan (6.6%), Turkmenistan (6%), Belarus (4.8%) and Georgia (4.1%).
