"Khorazm-Shakar" and "Angren-Shakar" sugar plants ceased operations. Representatives of the industry noticed that the closure was preceded by a drop in demand for enterprises production. According to representatives of the "Angren-Shakar" plant, suppliers of cane raw sugar have stopped deliveries. Both enterprises are not able to sell sugar due to uncompetitive prices against Russian sugar, warehouses are full.

The situation in the Belarusian sugar industry remains difficult, with considering the low prices in neighboring countries, Belarusian sugar plants want to gain a foothold in the markets of Africa and Asia, said the chairman of the the Belarussian State Concern of Food Industry "Belgospischeprom" Anatoly Buben.
