RUSSIA

In May 2015 the duty on raw sugar imports to the Customs Union will be set at US$ 250/MT.

Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia in Saratov region found no grounds for punishment Balashov sugar mill for the unreasonable increase in sugar prices.

Commission of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia in the Altai Territory has adjourned the case of price-fixing by wholesale suppliers of sugar in the region for one month.

According to the figures by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russian Federation dated March 31, 2015, sugar beet in certain regions of the South, the North Caucasus and Central federal districts was sown on an area of 140 700 ha or 14.4% of the forecast (in 2014 progress made to date was 70 200 ha).

Agrarians in Voronezh region have started spring field works, sugar beet crops are planned at the area of 112 thousand hectares (plus 12 000 ha to the previous year).

 

UKRAINE

Ten regions of Ukraine continue sowing sugar beet. As of March 31, total acreage of 33 000 hectares (in 2014 - 152 thousand hectares) have already been planted, which makes 11% of the forecast.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the National Statistics Agency, consumer prices for sugar in Kazakhstan have decreased by 2.5% in March 2015. From the beginning of the year the decline in consumer prices of sugar has made 6.8%.
